GOP Candidate’s Campaign Raises $50,000 in Five Weeks

Eagle, ID – Idaho 1^st congressional district candidate Vaughn Ward has eclipsed the $50,000 mark in campaign contributions in just five weeks.  Ward, who launched his bid for Congress in late February, says the early financial contributions show strong support for returning Idaho’s 1^st CD to its fiscal and social conservative Republican roots.

“When I entered this race, everyone I visited with agreed that the early actions of the Democratic Congress and the new Administration were taking our country in absolutely the wrong direction,” Ward said.  “Every day, there is a growing sentiment that we need to return our country to its conservative values, and with one of the frontline battles right here in Idaho, I am grateful that so many people have willingly and generously contributed to our campaign.”

Ward said Idaho’s 1^st congressional district race is viewed as one of 2010’s key battleground campaigns.  Among Ward’s early financial contributions is support from the political action committees of four Republican Members of Congress.

“My campaign will focus on fiscal responsibility, national security, limited but effective and ethical government, and permanent tax cuts so families and businesses can continue to exist during these economic times.  The fiscal irresponsibility demonstrated by the Democrat-controlled Congress is alarming and it is creating a bleak future for our children and grand children.  I am committed to cutting spending and reducing bureaucratic waste in Washington.  We must bring Idaho common sense to Congress.  Idaho can lead the way in 2010 by returning power back to the Republicans in Congress as this is the only way we can check this Administration that believes we can spend our way to prosperity,” Ward stated.
